Co-founder & CTO. Acquired by Aumet, December 2021.
Built and shipped Egypt's leading B2B pharmaceutical marketplace — order routing, multi-tier distributor logic, and take-rate billing across 1,160 pharmacies and 158 distributors at handoff. I helped shape the MVP, led the technical build and Cairo engineering team through the acquisition, then supported the Aumet integration through data migration, reporting, hiring, and several months in their development process.

Announced 23 December 2021. Acquired by Aumet Inc. — 100% share swap, USD seven-figure (exact figure undisclosed).
Post-acquisition, Platform One's Cairo team was retained as part of Aumet's Egypt operations. My own role shifted to integration support: data migration in Amman, reporting for the Egypt business team, hiring contribution, and several months contributing to Aumet's development process.

What Platform One was
Platform One was Egypt's leading provider of digital business pharmaceutical solutions — a B2B marketplace and supply-chain coordination layer connecting pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors with pharmacies through a single integrated platform that handled ordering, inventory awareness, multi-tier distributor routing, and value-chain reconciliation.
The model was asset-light: Platform One didn't carry inventory. It connected demand (pharmacies) with supply (manufacturers and three tiers of distributors).
By the October 2021 snapshot — the month before the acquisition was announced — the network covered 1,160 registered pharmacies and 158 registered distributors across Tier 1 (one large national distributor), Tier 2 (mid-size regional), and Tier 3 (local) supply.
Things I owned
- Architecture and build of a multi-sided marketplace handling order routing, inventory awareness, and multi-tier distributor fulfilment.
- Take-rate billing system that reconciled month-end revenue to GMV × take rate to the cent across the live transaction flow.
- Cairo engineering team — hired, structured, and led through to the acquisition; retained by the acquirer as part of Aumet's Egypt operations.
Things I contributed to
- MVP scoping and the early product judgment (founder-team decision).
- The acquisition outcome itself (founder-team and acquirer effort).
What I claim — and what I don't
Safe to claim
- Co-founded and CTO of Platform One, Egypt's leading B2B pharmaceutical marketplace.
- Built the platform that scaled to 1,160 pharmacies and 158 distributors across a 3-tier supply model.
- Processed ~500 orders / EGP 1.18M monthly volume by Oct 2021.
- Designed the order-routing, inventory, and take-rate billing system.
- Hired and led the Cairo engineering team through to the acquisition.
- Acquired in full by Aumet (Dec 2021); Cairo team retained as part of Aumet's Egypt operations.
- Led the data migration to Aumet during the integration; contributed to reporting, hiring, and Aumet's development process for several months post-close.
What I don't claim
- Pharmacy/distributor CAC trends (marketing/growth territory).
- LTV/CAC ratios (built on internal assumptions).
- "Hosting flat through 162× growth" line (the hosting figure is a budget line, not actual cloud bills).
- "Annualized EGP 8.1M GMV" without the "by Oct, monthly run-rate basis" caveat.
- Leading Aumet's Egypt engineering operations post-acquisition; my role shifted to integration support after the deal.

Built the platform and scaled the engineering team from zero to acquisition.
I wrote the first lines, made the early architecture calls, and hired the Cairo team the acquirer retained. The platform ran a live multi-sided marketplace with three tiers of distributors on a 3–5 person engineering team, then went through a technically sensitive data migration into Aumet's stack while the order book and distributor network were still active.

My role and contribution
Pre-launch and early growth
Met with the founders to understand the problem space and the timing of the opportunity in Egypt's pharmacy supply chain. Helped shape the MVP — what the platform should do, what to defer, how to frame the value proposition for both sides of the marketplace. Built and shipped the platform that ran the live business: the marketplace web and mobile surfaces, the order placement and routing system, the multi-tier distributor logic, the take-rate billing engine, and the operational tooling the team used day-to-day. As traction took hold, supervised the hiring of an engineering team in Cairo to scale the build alongside me.
During the acquisition (2021)
Core team member through the diligence and transaction. Traveled to Amman, Jordan to facilitate the data migration between Platform One's systems and Aumet's stack — which, given the live order book and active distributor network, was the most technically sensitive part of the integration. Member of Platform One's 2021 annual retreat as a core team representative. Worked with Aumet's engineering team and contributed to their development process for several months post-close. Generated reporting for the Egypt business team during the integration period and participated in hiring additional engineers in Egypt under the combined entity.
Team and tech stack
Small and efficient — 3 to 5 engineers across the lifetime of the project. As CTO I supervised hiring as the team grew.

Laravel + MySQL + DigitalOcean was the deliberately pragmatic choice for an early-stage Egyptian marketplace — not a fashion choice, a suitability one. The stack ran a live multi-sided marketplace with three tiers of distributors on a 3–5 person engineering team.
